What is Profhilo?
Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Profhilo Work?
Profhilo uses a high concentration of stabilised, non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. Once injected, it spreads through the tissue and is thought to stimulate the skin's own fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, supporting hydration and firmness from within rather than physically filling space.
Which Areas Does Profhilo Treat?
Profhilo is most commonly used on the face, neck and décolletage, depending on where you are noticing a loss of hydration, firmness or skin quality.
Who Performs Profhilo Treatment at Le Petit Saint?
Profhilo is administered by our Aesthetic Doctors following a private consultation at our Mayfair clinic, 49 Charles Street, London W1J 5EN.
Who Is This Treatment Suitable For?
Profhilo is generally well suited to those noticing a loss of skin hydration, firmness or elasticity, who are looking for a natural improvement in skin quality rather than added volume or contour change. Suitability is confirmed at consultation.
How Is Profhilo Different From Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers add volume immediately by physically filling space beneath the skin. Profhilo works differently: it does not add volume, and instead supports the skin's own collagen and elastin production over a course of treatment.
Is Profhilo Painful?
Most patients describe a slight stinging sensation at the injection points. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you would prefer, and your Aesthetic Doctor will talk you through what to expect at your consultation.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
An initial course of two sessions, typically around four weeks apart, is recommended, with maintenance sessions thereafter. Your Aesthetic Doctor will recommend a schedule based on your skin and goals.
When Will I See Results, and How Long Do They Last?
Results build gradually as collagen and elastin production increases, with many patients noticing an improvement in hydration and texture from a few weeks after treatment, developing further after the second session. Results typically last around six months, with maintenance sessions helping to sustain the effect over time.
Are There Any Side Effects?
As with any injectable treatment, mild redness, swelling or small bumps can occur at the injection site and typically settle within a few days. Your Aesthetic Doctor will discuss the full range of possible effects at your consultation.
Is Profhilo Right for Me?
The best way to find out is a private consultation with one of our Aesthetic Doctors, who can assess your skin and goals in person.
